Je désirais travailler sur une série de portraits d’une seule et même personne. Marylin Monroe, Che Guevara et Frida Kahlo avaient déjà été usés et abusés, alors, après avoir écarté l’option de l’autoportrait, j’ai finalement choisi d’user et d’abuser du visage de celui qui a fait carrière en usant et abusant des nôtres.
Ni hommage, ni critique ce travail souligne simplement l’impact d’un être humain qui a contribué à changer nos vies, pour le meilleur et pour le pire.
I had made my mind to work on a series of portraits of one single person. Marylin Monroe, Che Guevara and Frida Kahlo’s faces had already been used and abused so that, after hesitating to opt for the self portrait option, I finally decided to use and abuse the face of the one who made a carrier using and abusing ours. This work, which is no criticism nor tribute, mainly was a pretext for experimenting on the contemporary portrait form, underlining among other things the influence of one specific individual who participated in changing our lives for better and also for worse.
